Computing Error Bounds for Images on High Dynamic Range Displays

چکیده

The goal of this project is to compute a bound on the minimum error inherent in rendering a floating point image on a high dynamic range (HDR) display. The standard methods for rendering to this and similar devices will need to be real time. While they will employ the computation power of the GPU, many shortcuts which can affect image quality will be required in order to obtain interactive frame rates. The goal of this research is to serve as a basis of comparison for these methods, so one can weigh the quality-to-speed trade-offs of different optimizations. Furthermore, this process can be used to pre-compute video data for presentation on the display when interactivity is not required.

Genetic Algorithm - High Dynamic Range Image Enhancement

In this Modern era, image Transmission and processing plays a major role. It would not be possible to retrieve information from satellite and medical images without the help of Image processing techniques. Image Enhancement is the art of examining images for identifying objects and judging their significance. The proposed work uses the concept of GA to find the image with best Signal to noise R...

Extending quality metrics to full luminance range images

Many quality metrics take as input gamma corrected images and assume that pixel code values are scaled perceptually uniform. Although this is a valid assumption for darker displays operating in the luminance range typical for CRT displays (from 0.1 to 80 cd/m), it is no longer true for much brighter LCD displays (typically up to 500 cd/m), plasma displays (small regions up to 1000 cd/m) and HDR...

Adaptive Windowing for Optimal Visualization of Medical Images Based on a Structural Fidelity Measure

Medical imaging devices often capture the raw data with high precision, producing high dynamic range (HDR) images. To visualize HDR images on regular displays, there has been an increasing number of tone mapping algorithms developed in recent years that convert HDR to low dynamic range (LDR) images. To visualize HDR medical images, a so-called “windowing” procedure is typically employed by whic...

High Dynamic Range Imaging

High dynamic range (HDR) images and video contain pixels, which can represent much greater range of colors and brightness levels than that offered by existing, standard dynamic range images. Such “better pixels” greatly improve the overall quality of visual content, making it appear much more realistic and appealing to the audience. HDR is one of the key technologies of the future imaging pipel...

High dynamic range imaging pipeline: perception-motivated representation of visual content

The advances in high dynamic range (HDR) imaging, especially in the display and camera technology, have a significant impact on the existing imaging systems. The assumptions of the traditional low-dynamic range imaging, designed for paper print as a major output medium, are ill suited for the range of visual material that is shown on modern displays. For example, the common assumption that the ...
